Rev. Amos J. Disasa Senior Pastor of FPC Dallas

Rev. Amos J. Disasa
Senior Pastor of FPC Dallas

When he was a young child, Amos' family moved from Ethiopia, where he was born, to South Carolina. Amos earned degrees from Presbyterian College in Clinton, S.C. and the Wake Forest University School of Divinity in Winston-Salem, N.C.

Amos is a frequent preacher and lecturer at national gatherings of the church and in local congregations. His involvement in justice ministry began in 2001 with his work with former street children through Hope Unlimited for Children in Brazil. A tireless advocate for those on the margins of society, Amos helped start Foot Care Ministry, the Light the Way coalition of churches, and Transitions, all organizations serving the marginalized and homeless in South Carolina.

Today, as the Senior Pastor of FPC Dallas, he serves with others as a steward of The Stewpot, a pioneering ministry of the First Presbyterian Church of Dallas dedicated to responding to the unmet and emerging needs of the homeless and at-risk in Dallas.

Rev. Dr. Charlene Han Powell Senior Pastor of FPC Berkeley

Rev. Dr. Charlene Han Powell
Senior Pastor of FPC Berkeley

After graduating from University of California San Diego with a degree in Religious Studies and a minor in dance, Charlene headed east to attend Princeton Theological Seminary. During her time there, she not only felt called to serve as a pastor in the Presbyterian church, she also discovered that her great-grandfather was one of the first ordained Presbyterian ministers in Korea. Charlene now serves as the Senior Pastor at First Presbyterian in Berkeley, CA.

Building on her passion to help people understand and articulate their faith in a diverse, multicultural, multi-faith world, Charlene received a Doctor of Ministry from New York Theological Seminary. Her dissertation focused on the intersection of faith and culture for millennials and offered a pedagogical process by which members of this generation could explore their own beliefs and questions with the goal of writing their own confession of faith.
